President Donald Trump, while speaking Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference near Washington, D.C., invited Leadership Institute Field Representative Hayden Williams on stage, praising Williams for taking a "hard punch in the face for all of us."

Williams, an employee of Campus Reform's parent organization, was punched in the face on the campus of the University of California-Berkeley on Feb. 19 while helping conservative groups recruit new members. Williams' alleged attacker, 28-year-old Zachary Greenberg, was arrested Friday but is now out on bail. The president recalled seeing the story recently while speaking at CPAC.

"I turned on my television the other day and I saw somebody that was violently punched in the face...and I said that's disgusting," Trump said.

The president also said before the crowd at CPAC that Williams, "took a hard punch in the face for all of us."

Trump invited Williams up on stage to speak briefly.

"There are so many conservative students across the country that are facing discrimination and harassment and worse if they dare to speak up on campus so I'm glad that we could bring this to the forefront and I'd just like to say if these socialist progressives had their way they would put our constitution through the paper shredder in a heartbeat so it's as important now than ever to work at Leadership Institute and Campus Reform exposing these liberal abuses to the public," Williams said.
